Apple TV+ Subtitles Not Working? Turn Them On

Playback & Connection Updated 2026-06-04

Subtitles and captions are controlled both in playback and in your accessibility settings. Here is how to switch them on, off, and fix odd behaviour.

Control Apple TV+ subtitles

  1. During playback, swipe down on the Siri Remote (or open the playback menu) and choose Subtitles.
  2. Pick your language or turn captions off.
  3. Check accessibility: Settings › Accessibility › Subtitles and Captioning if captions are stuck on.
  4. Adjust the style there if captions are hard to read.
  5. Restart the title if subtitles fail to load on a specific show.

Closed Captions (SDH) and standard subtitles are listed separately – if one set is missing, look for the other in the list.
