How to Set Up Apple TV as a HomeKit Hub

Apple Devices & AirPlay Updated 2026-06-04

An Apple TV can act as a HomeKit home hub, letting you control accessories when away from home and run automations. Here is how to enable it.

Enable the home hub

  1. Sign in to the Apple TV with the same Apple ID you use for the Home app.
  2. Go to Settings › AirPlay and HomeKit and confirm the Apple TV is connected to your home.
  3. Open the Home app on your iPhone and check Home Settings › Home Hubs and Bridges – the Apple TV should show as Connected.
  4. Keep the Apple TV powered on and on the home network so it stays available as a hub.

Use two-factor authentication on your Apple ID – it is required for a working home hub.
